Richard is still at LGH. The doctors are still doing a lot of bloodwork and blood cultures. They can't seem to control his fever for an extended amount of time. Headaches come on suddenly. Last night, the nurses had difficulty re-accessing his chest port. They removed the tubes for awhile to let it air out, and when they went to re-access it, 4 different people could not get blood return or get fluids in. All felt that they were in the right place. This morning, he is supposed to have a portagram, a test that allows them to see the needle inside the port with an x-ray type machine. Hopefully, whatever is going on is an easy-fix and nothing too complicated. He is in good spirits most of the time and doesn't feel too bad most of the time. The toughest thing is getting a moment's peace! He had a good night's sleep last night, thankfully.
Love, Daphne

Wow, is it nice to have this sight so that we can all stay updated. I am praying for you guys, and hoping rich's temp comes down soon and that the doctors are able to have his chest port "up and runing" again soon.
May God give you the grace and strength you need for everything that comes your way.
Much love,
Jennifer
Hello Richard, Daphne, Richard, Karen and Peter,
Praying that the fever is under control by now. Also praying during this Holy Triduum that God will continue to be by your side in your trials and your triumphs! May the divine physician heal you from all ills and may His glorious resurrection give you hope and peace!
I love you all!
Aunt Paula
Daphne & Rich,
Cousin Kathy tells me Rich contracted a case of pneumonia. Although
this is
not a walk in the park, pneumonia is a common side effect of the
treatment
process. The most obvious and critical thing is to make sure the food
intake is constant to help metabolize the drugs prescribed for fluid
remediation and infection. To a point of commiseration, I too had
issues
with lung fluids although it did not develop into pneumonia. My side
effect
was saved for later on in the process when I contracted Shingles after
the
very last session of chemo. I unfortunately spent 4 more days in the
hospital to remedy the Shingles. What a painful experience ! I will
say
another prayer for Rich and both of you can be assured that this is
just one
more hurdle. Hang in there and the other side is much brighter believe
me.
Stay Positive,
John Lomire
